'The Academy Chamber Orchestra is one of the most exciting new young orchestras I know of. I had the pleasure and privilege to work with them recently and the experience, including getting to know these gifted and highly motivated youngsters and their charismatic conductor, was one of the most enjoyable and musically productive I have known.
The energy was palpable! Nothing safe and routine about how these young musicians play. We were on the edge of our seats in the Saint-Saens cello concerto. And the expression was coming over loud and clear. In Mendelssohn's Italian symphony, which I heard from the audience in the second half, there was one of the most spirited interpretations of this piece I have ever heard.
All praise to those in the team of organisers and helpers who have made a dream come true by creating this orchestra! These are young people and students of school and college age putting their heart and soul into something they love and cherish. It is wonderful to hear!
They should be heard as often and as widely as possible!'
